Our office in Calgary is presently seeking a Junior Process Engineer / EIT to support process engineering tasks across diverse projects in the Oil & Gas, Energy Transition, and Green Energy sectors. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Process Engineering Manager.
The Junior Process Engineer / EIT is accountable for the timely delivery of process engineering tasks and deliverables according to the project schedule. More specifically, this involves process engineering activities to ensure the completion and production of process engineering deliverables within the designated scope, while also upholding quality standards and managing any deviations in scope, cost, and schedule.
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITYThe Junior Process Engineer / EIT will be responsible for project execution including:
- Develops process engineering deliverables (block flow diagram, process flow diagram, process simulation, energy & material balances, piping & instrumentation diagrams, Line Designation Table, equipment sizing, equipment/instrument data sheets, etc.) Participates in project review meetings and client meetings, as and when required by the project lead/project management.
- As a team player, maintains interfaces with all disciplines and ensures that requirements of other disciplines and projects are catered to.
- Establish and maintain interfaces and a positive relationship with the client and all other external parties.
- Promote the use of company’s processes, tools, and procedures and project specific procedures and work processes.

The ideal candidate will possess:
- Completed post-secondary education and/or combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 2 – 5 years’ experience as a Process Engineer in the Oil & Gas industry, out of which a minimum of 2 years’ experience either in gas processing or Energy Transition projects.
- EIT or Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta or eligible for registration.
- Proficient in process engineering tools and methods such as Aspen HYSYS Suites, Flarenet, hydraulic calculations, overpressure protection, and PSV sizing, etc.
- Proficient in developing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), energy & material balances, equipment sizing, system hydraulics, control valve/relief valves sizing, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), line list, relief loads estimation, etc.
- Thorough, detailed knowledge and hands-on experience of process engineering aspects of Oil & Gas industries; knowledge of CCS and green hydrogen productions will be an asset.
- In-depth technical knowledge and understanding of discipline key work processes, as well as overall project development stages.
- Have knowledge of Canadian Oil & Gas industry and its standards, practices, and requirements.
- Good interpersonal skills and easy to approach.
- Solid problem solving, planning, and organizational abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Site engineering experience in Alberta Oil & Gas sector will be an asset.
- Experience in project reviews (HAZOP, SIL, Model Review) will be an asset.

The Senior/Lead Engineer will be experienced in low and medium voltage design, testing and support efforts within Energy and Renewables industry. This position will have overall responsibility for the delivery of electrical scope associated with project efforts within our Electrical Engineering Team meeting the expectations of the project, schedule and customer.
The Senior/Lead Engineer will function both independently engaging on various project related design and support efforts as well as working as part of a comprehensive team with other technical staff, Project Managers and customers.
The individual within this role will be able to adapt to various situations quickly while maintaining the highest level of professionalism. The individual will possess strong trouble shooting abilities and be able to formulate comprehensive strategies for resolving design challenges presented.
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITYThe Senior/Lead Engineer will be responsible for project execution including:
- Under the direction of the Project Manager, participate in or lead the technical design and implementation for projects
- Develop design basis documents, specifications, cost estimates, and scopes of work
- Complete and/or lead, as required, equipment specification and sizing, power system simulation, area classification, cable tray designs, voltage drop calculations, conductor sizing, control/marshaling panel designs, I/O schematics, power distribution, field junction boxes, cable schedules, etc.
- Prepare electrical construction bid documents, CWP’s and EWP’s
- In coordination with Corporate Procurement, select equipment vendors and procure equipment
- Interface with customers and vendors on technical issues
- Produce or lead the production of detailed design documentation that meet the technical and quality standards of the project requirements.
- Participate in acceptance testing and ensure deficiencies are addressed
- Support proposal development and participate in customer presentations as required
- Protection and control system design and specification
- Develop protection philosophies
- Perform protection coordination studies, load flow, Short Circuit Analysis, Relay Coordination, and Arc Flash Studies in ETAP
- Prepare technical reports
- Programming of relay files in accordance with logic diagrams and protection settings established with the protection coordination study – considered an asset
- Execute projects based on a NEC, ANSI/NEMA, NFPA, IEEE and other international codes and standards
- Assist project managers in the planning, control, and technical coordination of projects
- Provide guidance and training to junior and intermediate engineers
- May provide work direction to other project team members
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelors in Engineering in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering projects with at least 10 years in a Senior or Lead role
- Experience making technical and commercial/business decisions
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools
- Strong command of the English language (both written and verbal)
- Ability to develop and maintain strong personal relationships
- Working knowledge of the Oil & Gas and Electrical Utility marketplace

Job Family: Junior Drafter – Electrical

The Junior Electrical Drafter will be responsible for providing assistance towards the development and design of electrical-centric work packages in order to meet the requirements of various project implementations. The individual will have a basic working knowledge of drafting techniques including AutoCAD (and/or MicroStation) and 3D modeling in order to produce finished drawing packages.
The Junior Electrical Drafter will assist in design efforts using information from various sources which may include site studies, vendor drawings, catalog data, engineering sketches, reference drawings and input from other disciplines. The individual will also be required to participate in field investigations, contribute to field reports and create detailed sketches for use with design efforts.
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITYThe Junior Electrical Drafter will be responsible for project execution including:
- Provide drafting services towards the electrical designs for small to medium sized projects using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Produce 2D electrical design deliverables in accordance with client specification and policies to a high quality standard
- Work to learn and gain the knowledge in area classification, power distribution, grounding, lighting, and control systems to support design efforts
- As-Built drawings and final reporting
- Interact with all disciplines at project meetings, model reviews, etc.
- Participate in Field Investigation studies and develop accurate reports / sketches for use in project design efforts
- Collaborate with E&IC engineers to provide support, assistance, contribute solutions and introduce efficiencies
- Participate in design coordination with E&IC engineers, Team Designers and other disciplines to provide support, assistance and contribute solutions in the development of design packages
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 2+ years’ experience in oil & gas industry in the field of electrical engineering design
- 2-year SAIT/NAIT or equivalent diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Working familiarity with CEC (Canadian Electrical Code), other applicable codes including CEC, ISA, API and Alberta Oil and Gas Codes
- Knowledge of 3D modeling and application of discipline specific design criteria, codes, standard practices and theories
